TeenageTells- The Last Bookstore On Earth

This is my first (official) book review at TeenageTells. And let me tell you, I'm excited. I read this book in 6 days, during my low-reading time. This means, it was quick. The Last Bookstore on Earth is a dystopian novel about a girl named Liz who survived an acid rain and The Storm which wiped out most of the population. It is post-apocalyptic, but the world is supposedly going to end again. I read the paperback version and rated it 4 stars, because I've found that everything I read I either rate 5 or 3 stars. Never anything in between, and I'm determined to be more honest about it.
This was my first full read of 2026. I wish I had read more by this point, but I've been busy with work experience and writing stories and essays, so I'll excuse myself this time.
These are my favourite quotes and my review to convince you to read this. It's for anyone who likes any form of dystopian, girl power and is fine with queer romance.
Describes a terrible situation: "What a bargain!"
"I am the only one who still remembers I got an 8/8 on this assignment. It will die with me."
"People say they know something like the "back of their hand"." For context, the main character's hand was basically chewed up by a generator.
Review:
The romance itself was very cute and didn't obscure the plot. I love the dive into personal thoughts and worries, along with nostalgia and regret. This was very bingable, but not obsession-worthy. The need for Liz to rely on Maeve is great, but it feels like Liz doesn't "give" too much. It didn't seem to cross the threshold of a relationship, because Maeve's main personality trait is "amazing at everything, won't admit most things".
The concept, world and girls were great, but it didn't come together as hoped.
Next stop in my reading journey is Farenheit 451. I started reading it at the end of last year, but it's been super slow, and though I'm enjoying it, I'm not even halfway through. So hopefully, next time I do a book review, I'll be able to talk about it.
Thank you for reading this short little post. I'll try to make my books reviews more interesting in the future.
I hope you enjoyed reading this week’s post. It’s now your turn: write, read, publish and get inspired. Your dreams are just a little hard work away. Remember to like, comment, etc, so that other writers can find TeenageTales. See you next week!
